Why connect GTM to Claude?

A GTM container grows for years: tags from old agencies, triggers nobody remembers, custom HTML no one dares to delete. Claude is good at reading a big configuration and explaining it. Through Lemonado it reads your container and versions, and checks them against conversions in GA4 and Google Ads.

  • All your GTM data

Accounts, containers and workspaces, ready to ask about.

  • Always today's numbers

Triggers and the conditions behind them, synced from GTM automatically, so answers use today's numbers.

  • Connect all your tools

Questions like "Why did conversions drop?" use GTM and GA4, Google Ads at once.

Good to know

  • Custom connectors work on Claude Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. Free accounts can add one.
  • On Team and Enterprise, an owner adds the connector first under Organization settings → Connectors → Add → Custom → Web. Members then connect their own accounts.
  • Remote connectors belong to your Claude account, so the same connection shows up in Claude Desktop and Cowork. Requests come from Anthropic's cloud, not your computer.

What can Claude do with GTM?

Claude reads your GTM numbers, explains what moved and turns the answer into an artifact you can share.

Audit our GTM web container: unused tags, tags with no trigger, duplicate conversion tags and tags without consent settings. Show it as an artifact.

Done. Of 84 tags, 11 are paused, 4 never fire, 2 send the same purchase event and 14 skip consent. The artifact lists each tag with a suggested fix.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Through Lemonado, Claude reads containers, tags, triggers, variables and versions. It can suggest changes and explain why, but you make them in Tag Manager, where workspaces and approvals keep track of who did what.

No, Google doesn't run one. Community servers exist, and most can edit and publish your container, so check what you grant them. Lemonado gives Claude read-only access to your containers, next to GA4 and your ad platforms.

In Claude, open Customize → Connectors and check that Lemonado says Connected, then switch it on from the connectors menu in the chat. In Lemonado, check that Google Tag Manager is connected and External tools is on for the company. If a container is missing, your Google user needs access to it in Tag Manager > Admin > User Management. Account access alone isn't always enough.

Yes, if both are connected in Lemonado. One connection reaches every source you allow, so you can ask things like "Google Ads conversions fell on Oct 18. Check which GTM version was published that week and what it changed."

MCP is included in Lemonado's paid plans and in the free trial, so you can try it before you pay.
