Connect GTM to ChatGPT

  • Why did Meta stop counting purchases?

Ask ChatGPT what's in your GTM container and why a conversion stopped counting, without clicking through every tag. Lemonado connects them in about 3 minutes, no API keys needed.

Why connect GTM to ChatGPT?

Checking a GTM container means opening tags one by one and following each trigger. With Lemonado picked in ChatGPT, you ask the question and it reads the container for you. When conversions drop, it can check GTM and the ad platforms in the same answer.

  • All your GTM data

Accounts, containers and workspaces, ready to ask about.

  • Always today's numbers

Triggers and the conditions behind them, synced from GTM automatically, so answers use today's numbers.

  • Connect all your tools

Questions like "Why did conversions drop?" use GTM and GA4, Google Ads at once.

Good to know

  • Your ChatGPT account and workspace settings decide whether you can add custom MCP servers. Workspace admins can turn it off.
  • Older guides point to Settings → Apps → Developer mode. OpenAI has replaced that flow with Plugins.

What can ChatGPT do with GTM?

ChatGPT reads your GTM numbers when you pick @Lemonado, and writes the update, the summary or the next step for you.

ChatGPT logoChatGPT

@Lemonado Meta purchases dropped to near zero on Oct 22. Check our GTM container for changes to the Meta purchase tag or its trigger around then.

Version 213 went live Oct 22 and moved the Meta purchase tag behind a new consent trigger that only fires on accept. The trigger's variable name has a typo, so it never fires.

Frequently Asked Questions

Google doesn't make one. Lemonado works as a ChatGPT plugin and reads your GTM containers, alongside GA4 and your ad platforms, so ChatGPT can explain both your setup and what it does to your conversions.

No, Google doesn't run one. Community servers exist, and most can edit and publish your container, so check what you grant them. Lemonado gives ChatGPT read-only access to your containers, next to GA4 and your ad platforms.

Check that Lemonado is installed at chatgpt.com/plugins, then pick it with @ in a new chat. Workspace admins can turn custom plugins off. In Lemonado, check that Google Tag Manager is connected and External tools is on for the company. If a container is missing, your Google user needs access to it in Tag Manager > Admin > User Management. Account access alone isn't always enough.

Yes, if both are connected in Lemonado. One connection reaches every source you allow, so you can ask things like "Compare the GA4 events our GTM tags send with the events GA4 actually received last week."

MCP is included in Lemonado's paid plans and in the free trial, so you can try it before you pay.
