GTM MCP server for

AI agents
Ask Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor what's in your GTM container, and what changed when tracking broke.
No card needed. Works with any MCP client.
LemonadoGoogle Tag Manager MCP
Ask about tags, with their type, firing triggers and settings in Claude, ChatGPT or any AI agent, from live Google Tag Manager data.
What is the Google Tag Manager MCP server?
Lemonado's Google Tag Manager MCP server gives Claude, ChatGPT and other AI apps read access to your GTM accounts: containers, workspaces, tags, triggers, variables and published versions. Connect Google Tag Manager to Lemonado, connect Lemonado to your AI, and audit a container by asking questions instead of clicking through it. Google Ads, Meta and GA4 are on the same connection, so a drop in conversions can be traced to the version that caused it.
All your GTM data
Accounts, containers and workspaces, ready to ask about.
Always today's numbers
Triggers and the conditions behind them, synced from GTM automatically, so answers use today's numbers.
Connect all your tools
Questions like "Why did conversions drop?" use GTM and GA4, Google Ads at once.
Connecting takes minutes.

Summarize our GTM web container: how many tags of each type, which ones are paused, and which have no trigger.
84 tags: 31 GA4 events, 19 Google Ads, 12 Meta, 22 custom HTML. 9 are paused and 4 have no firing trigger, so they never run.
Source: Google Tag Manager
Compare the live GTM version with the one before it. What tags, triggers or variables changed?
Version 212 edited the purchase trigger to fire on /thank-you only. Checkout now ends on /order-complete, so the purchase tags stopped firing.
Source: Google Tag Manager
List tags in our GTM container that have no consent settings, grouped by vendor.
14 tags have no consent check: 8 custom HTML pixels, 4 Meta tags and 2 LinkedIn Insight tags. All GA4 and Google Ads tags use consent mode.
Source: Google Tag Manager
Find tags in GTM that send the same event to the same destination, so it might be counted twice.
The GA4 purchase event is sent by two tags: one on the purchase trigger and one in a custom HTML tag from 2023. Both fire on the thank-you page.

Google Ads conversions fell on Oct 18. Check which GTM version was published that week and what it changed.
Version 209 went live Oct 18 at 16:40 and renamed the dataLayer variable for order value. The Google Ads conversion tag still reads the old name, so it sends no value.
Source: GTM + Google Ads
Compare the GA4 events our GTM tags send with the events GA4 actually received last week.
GTM sends 31 event names, GA4 received 27. Four events (begin_checkout among them) use a trigger tied to a button that was removed.

Let Lemonado check GTM for you.
Copy one of these into Lemonado and it runs on a schedule.
Every morning, check for GTM versions published in the last 24 hours and post what changed, and who published it, in #tracking.
New version digest
Every Monday, list GTM tags that are paused, have no trigger or have no consent settings, and send the list to #tracking.
Weekly container audit
If Google Ads or Meta conversions fall over 30% day over day, check whether a GTM version was published that day and post both together.

Is there an official Google Tag Manager MCP server?
No. Google doesn't run an MCP server for Tag Manager. Community servers exist, such as Stape's, and most of them can edit and publish containers. Lemonado reads your containers only, and puts them next to GA4 and your ad platforms.
| Community GTM MCP servers | ||
|---|---|---|
| Who runs it | Open-source projects and agencies | Lemonado, hosted |
| Can change your container | Usually yes, with the right scopes | No, read only |
| Conversion data next to tag changes | No, container settings only | Yes, with Google Ads, Meta and GA4 |
| Alerts when a version is published | No | Yes, in Slack or email |
| Price | Free or set by the host | See pricing |

Frequently Asked Questions
No. Through Lemonado it reads your containers, tags, triggers, variables and versions. Publishing stays with you in Tag Manager, where versions and approvals already work the way your team set them up.
Connect your GTM account and container in Lemonado, turn on External tools, and add Lemonado to Claude or ChatGPT. Each guide on this page has the exact steps. Sign in with a Google account that has at least Read access to the GTM containers you want to audit. Pick the web container your site uses. Then ask something like "Summarize our GTM web container: how many tags of each type, which ones are paused, and which have no trigger."
Yes. It's a standard remote MCP server (https://mcp.lemonado.io/mcp): one command in Claude Code, one entry in Cursor's mcp.json, and an MCP Client Tool with a Lemonado token in n8n. In a coding agent, try "Compare every dataLayer.push key in our repo with the data layer variables and custom event triggers in our GTM container."
Yes. Besides answering in Claude or ChatGPT, Lemonado runs GTM reports and alerts on a schedule, in Slack or email. For example: "Every morning, check for GTM versions published in the last 24 hours and post what changed, and who published it, in #tracking."
It reads your GTM data. Google Tag Manager stays untouched; the only changes Lemonado can make are in ad accounts you connect, and only once you approve them.
MCP is included in Lemonado's paid plans and in the free trial, so you can try it before you pay.
