Why connect GA4 to Cursor?

Cursor sees the components that fire your GA4 events. With Lemonado it also sees what GA4 recorded, so the agent can spot an event that stopped, a key event that's double counted or a page that lost traffic after a deploy.

  • All your GA4 data

    Sessions, users and engagement, ready to ask about.

  • Always today's numbers

    Landing pages and page paths, synced from GA4 automatically, so answers use today's numbers.

  • Connect all your tools

    Questions like "What does a conversion cost by channel?" use GA4 and Google Ads, Search Console at once.

How to connect GA4 to Cursor

Before you start

  • A Google Analytics account you can sign in to
  • Cursor installed
  • A Lemonado account (the free trial works)
  1. 1

    Connect Google Analytics in Lemonado

    In Lemonado, open Connectors, find Google Analytics and sign in. Choose the GA4 property your site sends data to. The property, not the account, holds the data.

  2. 2

    Turn on external access

    In the company's settings, open External tools, turn the connection on, choose which sources it can reach and copy the server URL.

    text
    https://mcp.lemonado.io/mcp
  3. 3

    Open your MCP config

    Open ~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project, or .cursor/mcp.json for this project only. Create the file if it doesn't exist.

  4. 4

    Add Lemonado

    Merge this into the file and save.

    json
    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "lemonado": {
          "url": "https://mcp.lemonado.io/mcp"
        }
      }
    }
  5. 5

    Sign in

    Cursor asks you to sign in to Lemonado. Approve access, then ask the agent about your data.

  6. 6

    Ask Cursor about GA4

    Try "We changed the signup form in this branch. Which GA4 key events does it fire, and how did signups convert on the old version last month?" Or ask: "Are our events firing?" or "Which landing pages convert?"

Good to know

  • Editing the file directly avoids relying on menu labels that change between Cursor versions.

What can Cursor do with GA4?

Cursor's agent reads your GA4 data while it edits: it fills components with real data, checks tracking code and writes the analysis next to your code.

We changed the signup form in this branch. Which GA4 key events does it fire, and how did signups convert on the old version last month?

The new form fires sign_up only on success; the old one fired it on submit. Last month the old form recorded 2,140 sign_up events against 1,690 real signups.

Frequently Asked Questions

Add Lemonado to ~/.cursor/mcp.json with the server URL on this page and sign in, then connect your GA4 property in Lemonado. Cursor's agent can query it in any project, with no Google Cloud project to set up.

You can. Google publishes an open-source Google Analytics MCP server (googleanalytics/google-analytics-mcp on GitHub). It's free, read-only and labeled experimental. It runs locally and needs a Google Cloud project with the Analytics Admin and Data APIs turned on. In Cursor that means setting up the Cloud project, credentials and Python yourself. Lemonado is one URL with a normal Google sign-in, and also covers your other channels.

Open Cursor's settings and find lemonado in the MCP list. A red dot or a sign-in prompt means the login expired. Restart Cursor after editing mcp.json. In Lemonado, check that Google Analytics is connected and External tools is on for the company. If numbers look low, check that you picked the GA4 property for the right site. GA4 can take a day or two to finish processing recent data.

Yes, if both are connected in Lemonado. One connection reaches every source you allow, so you can ask things like "Cost per GA4 conversion by channel, using Google Ads and Meta spend."

MCP is included in Lemonado's paid plans and in the free trial, so you can try it before you pay.
