Why connect Shopify to Codex?
Codex runs in your terminal, its IDE extension and scripts, so what it finds once can be rerun with codex exec instead of redone by hand. Connected through Lemonado, it reads your Shopify orders, products, customers and discount codes, so it can work out ROAS from real Shopify revenue with today's numbers.
All your Shopify data
Orders, line items and refunds, ready to ask about.
Always today's numbers
Customers, first and repeat orders, synced from Shopify automatically, so answers use today's numbers.
Connect all your tools
Questions like "What's our real ROAS?" use Shopify and Meta Ads, Klaviyo at once.
How to connect Shopify to Codex
Before you start
- A Shopify account you can sign in to
- Codex installed
- A Lemonado account (the free trial works)
- 1
Connect Shopify in Lemonado
In Lemonado, open Connectors, find Shopify and sign in. Sign in with a staff account that can see orders and reports, then pick the store.
- 2
Turn on external access
In the company's settings, open External tools, turn the connection on, choose which sources it can reach and copy the server URL.
texthttps://mcp.lemonado.io/mcp - 3
Add Lemonado to your config
Add this to ~/.codex/config.toml.
toml[mcp_servers.lemonado] url = "https://mcp.lemonado.io/mcp" - 4
Log in
Run the login command and finish the sign-in in your browser.
bashcodex mcp login lemonado - 5
Ask Codex about Shopify
Run codex mcp list, or /mcp inside Codex, to see the server and its tools. Try "Pull last week's Shopify numbers, save them to data/shopify-weekly.csv and give me the codex exec command to refresh it." Or ask: "When do customers reorder?" or "Do purchases match orders?"
What can Codex do with Shopify?
Codex reads your Shopify data from your terminal and turns one-off questions into commands you can rerun with codex exec.
Pull last week's Shopify numbers, save them to data/shopify-weekly.csv and give me the codex exec command to refresh it.
Saved data/shopify-weekly.csv. Run the same prompt with codex exec in a scheduled job and the file refreshes with each week's numbers.

Build a cohort table of first-order month vs repeat orders by month since, from Shopify, and save it as data/shopify_cohorts.csv.
Saved 12 cohorts. Repeat orders cluster in month 2 and month 11, so the annual gear refresh matters more than a 30-day win-back.

Compare Shopify orders last month with the purchase events our theme sends to GA4 and the Meta pixel. Where do they differ?
Shopify: 2,140 orders. GA4: 1,880, Meta: 2,460. GA4 misses Shop Pay orders that skip the thank-you page, and Meta counts some orders twice on refresh.

Pull every Shopify order from the last 6 months with its line items and save the most common product pairs to data/shopify_bundles.csv.
Saved 40 pairs. The Trail 2P tent and the Ridge sleeping pad appear together in 18% of tent orders, the strongest pair by far.

What share of first-time customers from Q2 have ordered again?
19% ordered again within 90 days. Customers whose first order was a sleeping bag came back 2x more often than tent buyers.

How did orders with the code AUTUMN15 compare with full-price orders on AOV and refunds?
AUTUMN15 orders averaged $96 vs $121 at full price, and refunded 2.3x as often. 41% were existing customers who would likely have bought anyway.

# Connect Shopify to Codex (Lemonado MCP) - Server URL: https://mcp.lemonado.io/mcp - Transport: Streamable HTTP - Auth: OAuth; the user signs in to Lemonado in the browser. No API keys. - In Lemonado: connect the Shopify store. Sign in with a staff account that can see orders and reports, then pick the store. - In Codex: ~/.codex/config.toml ```toml [mcp_servers.lemonado] url = "https://mcp.lemonado.io/mcp" ``` If you are Codex, run the setup yourself: Add the Lemonado MCP server to my Codex config. Append this to ~/.codex/config.toml: [mcp_servers.lemonado] url = "https://mcp.lemonado.io/mcp" Then run codex mcp login lemonado so I can sign in, and check that codex mcp list shows it. Once I've signed in, list the Shopify accounts Lemonado can reach. First question to try: "Pull last week's Shopify numbers, save them to data/shopify-weekly.csv and give me the codex exec command to refresh it." Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, through Lemonado. Connect your Shopify store in Lemonado, add Lemonado in ~/.codex/config.toml, and Codex can work out ROAS from real Shopify revenue with your live data.
Not for store data. Shopify's own MCP servers do other jobs: Dev MCP helps developers search Shopify's docs and APIs, and Storefront MCP lets shopping assistants browse a store's public products and cart. Neither gives Claude or ChatGPT your orders, revenue and customers. Lemonado gives Codex your orders and customers, next to your ad spend.
Run codex mcp list. If lemonado shows as not logged in, run codex mcp login lemonado again. In Lemonado, check that Shopify is connected and External tools is on for the company. If orders look short, check you connected the right store and that your staff account can view orders. Shopify only shares what that account can see.
Yes, if both are connected in Lemonado. One connection reaches every source you allow, so you can ask things like "Put Meta and Google Ads spend next to Shopify revenue by week for the last quarter."
MCP is included in Lemonado's paid plans and in the free trial, so you can try it before you pay.
