Why connect Shopify to Claude Code?

Cohorts, product bundles and checkout tracking are code work. Claude Code reads Shopify through Lemonado, joins it with ad spend and your theme's tracking code, and saves the result in your project.

Orders, line items and refunds, ready to ask about.

  • Always today's numbers

Customers, first and repeat orders, synced from Shopify automatically, so answers use today's numbers.

  • Connect all your tools

Questions like "What's our real ROAS?" use Shopify and Meta Ads, Klaviyo at once.

How to connect Shopify to Claude Code

Before you start

  • A Shopify account you can sign in to
  • Claude Code installed
  • A Lemonado account (the free trial works)
  1. 1

    Connect Shopify in Lemonado

In Lemonado, open Connectors, find Shopify and sign in. Sign in with a staff account that can see orders and reports, then pick the store.

  2. 2

    Turn on external access

In the company's settings, open External tools, turn the connection on, choose which sources it can reach and copy the server URL.

    text
    https://mcp.lemonado.io/mcp
  3. 3

    Add the server

With Claude Code installed, run one of these in your terminal. Most people want the first: it adds Lemonado to every project.

    # every project (recommended)
claude mcp add --scope user --transport http lemonado https://mcp.lemonado.io/mcp

    # this project only
claude mcp add --transport http lemonado https://mcp.lemonado.io/mcp

Start Claude Code with claude and run /mcp. Choose Lemonado and finish the sign-in in your browser.

    bash
    claude
    /mcp
  5. 5

    Ask Claude Code about Shopify

Ask a question about the accounts your connection can reach. Claude Code can also write the numbers into a file or a script for you. Try "Build a monthly cohort table from Shopify, first-order month vs repeat orders by month since, and save it to data/shopify_cohorts.csv." Or ask: "Can you clean up the product feed?" or "Can this run every Monday?"

Good to know

  • The command uses Claude Code's default local scope. Use --scope user to share the server across projects.

What can Claude Code do with Shopify?

Claude Code queries your Shopify data while it works in your repo: it saves data as files, checks tracking against code and runs headless with claude -p.

Build a monthly cohort table from Shopify, first-order month vs repeat orders by month since, and save it to data/shopify_cohorts.csv.

Saved 12 cohorts. Repeat orders peak in month 2 and month 11. Customers who first bought a sleeping bag reorder twice as often as tent buyers.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Community Shopify MCP servers ask you to create a custom app and paste an Admin API token into a config file. With Lemonado, a store staff member signs in once, and Claude Code only ever sees the Lemonado server URL.

Not for store data. Shopify's own MCP servers do other jobs: Dev MCP helps developers search Shopify's docs and APIs, and Storefront MCP lets shopping assistants browse a store's public products and cart. Neither gives Claude or ChatGPT your orders, revenue and customers. Lemonado gives Claude Code your orders and customers, next to your ad spend.

Run claude mcp list to see whether lemonado is connected. If it needs authentication, run /mcp inside Claude Code and sign in again. In Lemonado, check that Shopify is connected and External tools is on for the company. If orders look short, check you connected the right store and that your staff account can view orders. Shopify only shares what that account can see.

Yes, if both are connected in Lemonado. One connection reaches every source you allow, so you can ask things like "Put Meta and Google Ads spend next to Shopify revenue by week for the last quarter."

MCP is included in Lemonado's paid plans and in the free trial, so you can try it before you pay.
