Connect Snowflake to n8n

  • Can it run every morning?

Build n8n workflows that use your Snowflake data to check how a metric is defined on a schedule, and post the result where your team works. Lemonado connects them in about 5 minutes with one Lemonado token.

Why connect Snowflake to n8n?

n8n runs on triggers and schedules, so a question you ask once can become a check that runs every morning. Connected through Lemonado, it reads your Snowflake tables, views, revenue models and customer data, so it can check how a metric is defined with today's numbers.

  • All your Snowflake data

Tables and views your role can read, ready to ask about.

  • Always today's numbers

Column names, types and descriptions, synced from Snowflake automatically, so answers use today's numbers.

  • Connect all your tools

Questions like "What does a paying customer cost?" use Snowflake and BigQuery, GA4 at once.

How to connect Snowflake to n8n

Before you start

  • A Snowflake account you can sign in to
  • n8n installed
  • A Lemonado account (the free trial works)
  1. 1

    Connect Snowflake in Lemonado

In Lemonado, open Connectors, find Snowflake and sign in. Create a read-only role that can use one warehouse and the schemas marketing should see, and connect with that. Keep raw PII schemas out of the grant.

  2. 2

    Turn on external access

In the company's settings, open External tools, turn the connection on, choose which sources it can reach and copy the server URL.

    https://mcp.lemonado.io/mcp
  3. 3

    Create a token in Lemonado

In External tools, open your connection's guide, choose n8n, pick an expiry and click Generate Token. Copy it.

  4. 4

    Add the MCP Client Tool

In your workflow, add an AI Agent node, then add an MCP Client Tool under its tools. Use node version 1.1 or later; version 1 only speaks SSE.

  5. 5

    Configure it

Set the endpoint to the server URL, the transport to HTTP Streamable (pick it yourself on node version 1.1, which defaults to SSE) and authentication to Bearer Auth. Create a Bearer Auth credential and paste the raw token, without a "Bearer " prefix.

    https://mcp.lemonado.io/mcp
  6. 6

    Test and save

Test the connection, save the workflow and ask the agent about your data.

  7. 7

    Ask n8n about Snowflake

Try "Every morning at 8, check yesterday's Snowflake numbers and post anything unusual to #marketing." Or ask: "Is the warehouse fresh?" or "What did we earn last week?"

Good to know

  • If the MCP Client Tool only shows an SSE Endpoint field, it's the version 1 node: replace it with a newer one. Keep the /mcp URL and choose HTTP Streamable.
  • Regenerating a token in Lemonado invalidates the old one, so update n8n when you do.

What can n8n do with Snowflake?

n8n's AI Agent reads your Snowflake data on a trigger or a schedule, then posts, logs or files the result in the next node.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, through Lemonado. Connect your Snowflake role and warehouse in Lemonado, add Lemonado as an MCP Client Tool on an n8n AI Agent node, and n8n can check how a metric is defined with your live data.

Yes. Snowflake's managed MCP server is hosted, so n8n can use it too. It covers Snowflake only. Lemonado covers Snowflake plus your ad platforms, GA4 and the rest of your stack in one connection, so n8n can answer questions across them.

Use Test step on the MCP Client Tool. A 401 means the token expired or was regenerated, so paste a new one into the Bearer credential. In Lemonado, check that Snowflake is connected and External tools is on for the company. If a table is missing, the role can't see it. Grant USAGE on its database and schema and SELECT on the table, then ask again.

Yes, if both are connected in Lemonado. One connection reaches every source you allow, so you can ask things like "Join first orders from Snowflake with Meta and Google Ads spend by month this year. What did each new customer cost per channel?"

MCP is included in Lemonado's paid plans and in the free trial, so you can try it before you pay.
