Why connect Klaviyo to VS Code (GitHub Copilot)?

Copilot's agent mode can call MCP tools inside your workspace, so it can read live numbers while it edits code and docs. Connected through Lemonado, it reads your Klaviyo campaigns, flows, segments and attributed revenue, so it can catch a list that's wearing out with today's numbers.

  • All your Klaviyo data

Email and SMS campaigns, ready to ask about.

  • Always today's numbers

Opens, clicks, unsubscribes and spam complaints, synced from Klaviyo automatically, so answers use today's numbers.

  • Connect all your tools

Questions like "Does Klaviyo over-claim?" use Klaviyo and Shopify, Meta Ads at once.

  4. 4

    Choose where it lives

For your personal Copilot setup, choose Global → Copilot Global. That writes to ~/.copilot/mcp-config.json unless COPILOT_HOME says otherwise.

  5. 5

    Trust and sign in

Accept the trust prompt and sign in to Lemonado. Turn the tools on under Chat: Open Customizations → Tools.

  6. 6

Ask VS Code (GitHub Copilot) about Klaviyo

Try "Update the table in docs/kpis.md with last month's Klaviyo numbers and add one line on what changed." Or ask: "How did each flow message do?" or "When should we send?"

Good to know

  • The older .vscode/mcp.json format still works for the local harness, but VS Code now marks that destination as deprecated. It uses a servers key with type http and the same URL.

What can VS Code (GitHub Copilot) do with Klaviyo?

Copilot reads your Klaviyo data in agent mode and works the numbers into your code, docs and notebooks in the workspace you have open.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, through Lemonado. Connect your Klaviyo account in Lemonado, add Lemonado with MCP: Add Server in VS Code, and VS Code can catch a list that's wearing out with your live data.

Yes. Klaviyo's official MCP server is hosted, so VS Code can use it too. It covers Klaviyo only. Lemonado covers Klaviyo plus your ad platforms, GA4 and the rest of your stack in one connection, so VS Code can answer questions across them.

Run MCP: List Servers from the command palette. If lemonado isn't running, start it there, accept the trust prompt and sign in. In Lemonado, check that Klaviyo is connected and External tools is on for the company. If revenue is missing, check that your store sends orders to Klaviyo. Klaviyo can only attribute revenue to campaigns and flows when it sees the orders.

Yes, if both are connected in Lemonado. One connection reaches every source you allow, so you can ask things like "Compare Klaviyo attributed revenue with Shopify revenue by week. How much of Shopify revenue does Klaviyo claim?"

MCP is included in Lemonado's paid plans and in the free trial, so you can try it before you pay.
