Why connect Amplitude to Cursor?
Cursor's agent sees every track() call while you write it. What it can't see is whether those events arrive, with the right properties, after the release. Add Lemonado and it can check Amplitude for you, so tracking bugs get fixed in the same pull request that caused them.
All your Amplitude data
Events and event properties, ready to ask about.
Always today's numbers
Cohorts and their sizes over time, synced from Amplitude automatically, so answers use today's numbers.
Connect all your tools
Questions like "Which campaigns keep users?" use Amplitude and Mixpanel, PostHog at once.
How to connect Amplitude to Cursor
Before you start
- A Amplitude account you can sign in to
- Cursor installed
- A Lemonado account (the free trial works)
- 1
Connect Amplitude in Lemonado
In Lemonado, open Connectors, find Amplitude and sign in. Connect the Amplitude project you report from, not a dev or staging project. If your org is on Amplitude's EU data center, choose EU when you connect.
- 2
Turn on external access
In the company's settings, open External tools, turn the connection on, choose which sources it can reach and copy the server URL.
texthttps://mcp.lemonado.io/mcp - 3
Open your MCP config
Open ~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project, or .cursor/mcp.json for this project only. Create the file if it doesn't exist.
- 4
Add Lemonado
Merge this into the file and save.
json{ "mcpServers": { "lemonado": { "url": "https://mcp.lemonado.io/mcp" } } } - 5
Sign in
Cursor asks you to sign in to Lemonado. Approve access, then ask the agent about your data.
- 6
Ask Cursor about Amplitude
Try "I added an onboarding_step_completed event in components/Onboarding.tsx yesterday. Check how many arrived in Amplitude and which step values show up." Or ask: "Did the refactor break tracking?" or "Which events have no owner?"
Good to know
- Editing the file directly avoids relying on menu labels that change between Cursor versions.
What can Cursor do with Amplitude?
Cursor's agent reads your Amplitude data while it edits: it fills components with real data, checks tracking code and writes the analysis next to your code.
I added an onboarding_step_completed event in components/Onboarding.tsx yesterday. Check how many arrived in Amplitude and which step values show up.
2,140 events arrived, but step is always 1. The component sends the step from its initial state instead of the current one.

We refactored the settings page last week. Compare Amplitude event volume from that page before and after.
settings_saved dropped 88% after the refactor. The new SettingsForm.tsx calls save without the analytics wrapper.

Find events Amplitude received this month that no file in our repo sends anymore.
7 events still arrive with no code sending them. All come from the old iOS app version 3.2, still used by 6% of users.

Check that both variants of the pricing page experiment send pricing_viewed with the variant property in Amplitude.
Variant A sends it on every view. Variant B misses the property on 40% of views because its page loads analytics after the event fires.

Define power users as active 20 of the last 28 days. What did they do in their first session that others didn't?
Power users connected two or more sources in session one, 3x more often than others. Most also opened the shared template gallery.

Compare Google Ads conversions for sign_up last week with sign_up events in Amplitude that carry a gclid.

Both. When you connect Amplitude in Lemonado, choose US or EU to match where your org's data lives. Cursor then connects to Lemonado with one URL, whichever region you use.
Yes. Amplitude's MCP server is hosted, so Cursor can use it too. It covers Amplitude only. Lemonado covers Amplitude plus your ad platforms, GA4 and the rest of your stack in one connection, so Cursor can answer questions across them.
Open Cursor's settings and find lemonado in the MCP list. A red dot or a sign-in prompt means the login expired. Restart Cursor after editing mcp.json. In Lemonado, check that Amplitude is connected and External tools is on for the company. If events look empty, check the data center (US or EU) and that you connected the production project.
Yes, if both are connected in Lemonado. One connection reaches every source you allow, so you can ask things like "Compare Google Ads conversions for sign_up last week with sign_up events in Amplitude that carry a gclid."
MCP is included in Lemonado's paid plans and in the free trial, so you can try it before you pay.
