Connect PostHog to n8n

  • Can it run every morning?

Build n8n workflows that use your PostHog data to find which landing pages convert on a schedule, and post the result where your team works. Lemonado connects them in about 5 minutes with one Lemonado token.

Why connect PostHog to n8n?

n8n runs on triggers and schedules, so a question you ask once can become a check that runs every morning. Connected through Lemonado, it reads your PostHog events, funnels, persons and insights, so it can find which landing pages convert with today's numbers.

  • All your PostHog data

Events, pageviews and their properties, ready to ask about.

  • Always today's numbers

Persons with UTM and referrer properties, synced from PostHog automatically, so answers use today's numbers.

  • Connect all your tools

Questions like "What does an activated user cost?" use PostHog and Mixpanel, GA4 at once.

How to connect PostHog to n8n

Before you start

  • A PostHog account you can sign in to
  • n8n installed
  • A Lemonado account (the free trial works)
  1. 1

    Connect PostHog in Lemonado

In Lemonado, open Connectors, find PostHog and sign in. Sign in to PostHog and pick the project. Choose the EU region if your PostHog lives there.

  2. 2

    Turn on external access

In the company's settings, open External tools, turn the connection on, choose which sources it can reach and copy the server URL.

    https://mcp.lemonado.io/mcp
  3. 3

    Create a token in Lemonado

In External tools, open your connection's guide, choose n8n, pick an expiry and click Generate Token. Copy it.

  4. 4

    Add the MCP Client Tool

In your workflow, add an AI Agent node, then add an MCP Client Tool under its tools. Use node version 1.1 or later; version 1 only speaks SSE.

  5. 5

    Configure it

Set the endpoint to the server URL, the transport to HTTP Streamable (pick it yourself on node version 1.1, which defaults to SSE) and authentication to Bearer Auth. Create a Bearer Auth credential and paste the raw token, without a "Bearer " prefix.

    https://mcp.lemonado.io/mcp
  6. 6

    Test and save

Test the connection, save the workflow and ask the agent about your data.

  7. 7

    Ask n8n about PostHog

Try "Every morning at 8, check yesterday's PostHog numbers and post anything unusual to #marketing." Or ask: "Did signups break?" or "Which landing pages converted?"

Good to know

  • If the MCP Client Tool only shows an SSE Endpoint field, it's the version 1 node: replace it with a newer one. Keep the /mcp URL and choose HTTP Streamable.
  • Regenerating a token in Lemonado invalidates the old one, so update n8n when you do.

What can n8n do with PostHog?

n8n's AI Agent reads your PostHog data on a trigger or a schedule, then posts, logs or files the result in the next node.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, through Lemonado. Connect your PostHog project in Lemonado, add Lemonado as an MCP Client Tool on an n8n AI Agent node, and n8n can find which landing pages convert with your live data.

Yes. PostHog's official MCP server is hosted, so n8n can use it too. It covers PostHog only. Lemonado covers PostHog plus your ad platforms, GA4 and the rest of your stack in one connection, so n8n can answer questions across them.

Use Test step on the MCP Client Tool. A 401 means the token expired or was regenerated, so paste a new one into the Bearer credential. In Lemonado, check that PostHog is connected and External tools is on for the company. If sources are missing, check that your site keeps UTM parameters through redirects. PostHog can only record the source it sees on the first page.

Yes, if both are connected in Lemonado. One connection reaches every source you allow, so you can ask things like "Divide last month's spend on Google Ads, Meta and LinkedIn by the PostHog users each one sent who completed onboarding."

MCP is included in Lemonado's paid plans and in the free trial, so you can try it before you pay.
