Connect Google Sheets to n8n

  • Can it run every morning?

Why connect Google Sheets to n8n?

n8n runs on triggers and schedules, so a question you ask once can become a check that runs every morning. Connected through Lemonado, it reads your Google Sheets media plans, targets, offline sales and UTMs, so it can turn a targets tab into a scorecard with today's numbers.

  • All your Google Sheets data

Any tab you connect, as a table, ready to ask about.

  • Always today's numbers

Targets and forecasts, synced from Google Sheets automatically, so answers use today's numbers.

  • Connect all your tools

Questions like "Is the forecast holding?" use Google Sheets and GA4, Google Ads at once.

How to connect Google Sheets to n8n

Before you start

  • A Google Sheets account you can sign in to
  • n8n installed
  • A Lemonado account (the free trial works)
  1. 1

    Connect Google Sheets in Lemonado

In Lemonado, open Connectors, find Google Sheets and sign in. Choose the spreadsheets you want AI to read. Keep column names in the first row of each tab.

  2. 2

    Turn on external access

In the company's settings, open External tools, turn the connection on, choose which sources it can reach and copy the server URL.

  3. 3

    Create a token in Lemonado

In External tools, open your connection's guide, choose n8n, pick an expiry and click Generate Token. Copy it.

  4. 4

    Add the MCP Client Tool

In your workflow, add an AI Agent node, then add an MCP Client Tool under its tools. Use node version 1.1 or later; version 1 only speaks SSE.

  5. 5

    Configure it

Set the endpoint to the server URL, the transport to HTTP Streamable (pick it yourself on node version 1.1, which defaults to SSE) and authentication to Bearer Auth. Create a Bearer Auth credential and paste the raw token, without a "Bearer " prefix.

    https://mcp.lemonado.io/mcp
  6. 6

    Test and save

Test the connection, save the workflow and ask the agent about your data.

  7. 7

    Ask n8n about Google Sheets

Try "Every morning at 8, check yesterday's Google Sheets numbers and post anything unusual to #marketing." Or ask: "What did we spend yesterday?" or "Which channels are off pace?"

Good to know

  • If the MCP Client Tool only shows an SSE Endpoint field, it's the version 1 node: replace it with a newer one. Keep the /mcp URL and choose HTTP Streamable.
  • Regenerating a token in Lemonado invalidates the old one, so update n8n when you do.

What can n8n do with Google Sheets?

n8n's AI Agent reads your Google Sheets data on a trigger or a schedule, then posts, logs or files the result in the next node.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, through Lemonado. Connect your spreadsheet in Lemonado, add Lemonado as an MCP Client Tool on an n8n AI Agent node, and n8n can turn a targets tab into a scorecard with your live data.

Use Test step on the MCP Client Tool. A 401 means the token expired or was regenerated, so paste a new one into the Bearer credential. In Lemonado, check that Google Sheets is connected and External tools is on for the company. If a tab is missing, check it's in a spreadsheet you connected and that the Google account you used can open it.

Yes, if both are connected in Lemonado. One connection reaches every source you allow, so you can ask things like "Compare the revenue forecast sheet with actual Stripe revenue so far this quarter."

MCP is included in Lemonado's paid plans and in the free trial, so you can try it before you pay.
