Connect BigQuery to n8n

  • Can it run every morning?

Build n8n workflows that use your BigQuery data to join raw events to ad cost on a schedule, and post the result where your team works. Lemonado connects them in about 5 minutes with one Lemonado token.

Why connect BigQuery to n8n?

n8n runs on triggers and schedules, so a question you ask once can become a check that runs every morning. Connected through Lemonado, it reads your BigQuery GA4 events, datasets, tables and scheduled queries, so it can join raw events to ad cost with today's numbers.

  • All your BigQuery data

Datasets and tables your account can read, ready to ask about.

  • Always today's numbers

Google Ads and Search Console bulk exports, if you run them, synced from BigQuery automatically, so answers use today's numbers.

  • Connect all your tools

Questions like "What did paid sessions earn?" use BigQuery and GA4, Snowflake at once.

How to connect BigQuery to n8n

Before you start

  • A Google BigQuery account you can sign in to
  • n8n installed
  • A Lemonado account (the free trial works)
  1. 1

    Connect Google BigQuery in Lemonado

In Lemonado, open Connectors, find Google BigQuery and sign in. Sign in with a Google account that can read the dataset holding your GA4 export, and pick that project. The BigQuery Data Viewer and Job User roles are enough.

  2. 2

    Turn on external access

In the company's settings, open External tools, turn the connection on, choose which sources it can reach and copy the server URL.

    https://mcp.lemonado.io/mcp
  3. 3

    Create a token in Lemonado

In External tools, open your connection's guide, choose n8n, pick an expiry and click Generate Token. Copy it.

  4. 4

    Add the MCP Client Tool

In your workflow, add an AI Agent node, then add an MCP Client Tool under its tools. Use node version 1.1 or later; version 1 only speaks SSE.

  5. 5

    Configure it

Set the endpoint to the server URL, the transport to HTTP Streamable (pick it yourself on node version 1.1, which defaults to SSE) and authentication to Bearer Auth. Create a Bearer Auth credential and paste the raw token, without a "Bearer " prefix.

    https://mcp.lemonado.io/mcp
  6. 6

    Test and save

Test the connection, save the workflow and ask the agent about your data.

  7. 7

    Ask n8n about BigQuery

Try "Every morning at 8, check yesterday's BigQuery numbers and post anything unusual to #marketing." Or ask: "Did the export land?" or "Weekly funnel from raw events"

Good to know

  • If the MCP Client Tool only shows an SSE Endpoint field, it's the version 1 node: replace it with a newer one. Keep the /mcp URL and choose HTTP Streamable.
  • Regenerating a token in Lemonado invalidates the old one, so update n8n when you do.

What can n8n do with BigQuery?

n8n's AI Agent reads your BigQuery data on a trigger or a schedule, then posts, logs or files the result in the next node.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, through Lemonado. Connect your Google Cloud project in Lemonado, add Lemonado as an MCP Client Tool on an n8n AI Agent node, and n8n can join raw events to ad cost with your live data.

Yes. Google's BigQuery MCP server is hosted, so n8n can use it too. It covers Google BigQuery only. Lemonado covers Google BigQuery plus your ad platforms, GA4 and the rest of your stack in one connection, so n8n can answer questions across them.

Use Test step on the MCP Client Tool. A 401 means the token expired or was regenerated, so paste a new one into the Bearer credential. In Lemonado, check that Google BigQuery is connected and External tools is on for the company. If yesterday's GA4 data is missing, the daily export may not have landed yet. GA4 writes the events_ table for a day several hours after it ends.

Yes, if both are connected in Lemonado. One connection reaches every source you allow, so you can ask things like "Join GA4 purchase revenue from BigQuery with Google Ads cost by campaign for last month."

MCP is included in Lemonado's paid plans and in the free trial, so you can try it before you pay.
